Between Valleys(2012)
Between Valleys follows two versions of the same man living parallel lives in Brazil. Vicente is a successful economist with a wife and nine-year-old son, yet his carefully constructed world begins to unravel piece by piece. Antônio, his counterpart, survives as a catador—a trash scavenger working in Brazil's sprawling garbage dumps, already stripped of everything. As Vicente's comfortable existence deteriorates, Antônio fights to claw his way back from the bottom. The film traces their diverging trajectories with unflinching honesty, exploring how circumstance and choice shape human dignity. It's a haunting meditation on class, resilience, and the fragile line between stability and destitution, told through the interconnected fates of one man living two lives.
