Outrageous! is a 1977 Canadian comedy-drama following Robin Turner, a gay hair stylist who styles drag queens while harbouring his own performance ambitions. When his schizophrenic friend Liza arrives needing shelter, the two forge an unlikely bond. Robin supports Liza through an unexpected pregnancy while she encourages him to develop a nightclub act. The film captures their friendship with warmth and humour, exploring themes of acceptance, courage, and finding your place in the world. Directed by Richard Benner and starring Craig Russell and Holly Larocque, Outrageous! became a cult classic for its honest portrayal of LGBTQ+ life and mental health in the 1970s.
