A Man Called Hawk(1989)
A Man Called Hawk is a crime drama series that aired on ABC from January to May 1989. Spun off from the hit series Spenser: For Hire, the show centers on Hawk, the tough private investigator first introduced in Robert B. Parker's 1976 novel Promised Land. Avery Brooks reprises the role, bringing the character's sharp wit and lethal skills to the forefront as he navigates Boston's criminal underworld. The series proved popular enough to spawn four television movies—Spenser: Ceremony, Spenser: Pale Kings and Princes, Spenser: The Judas Goat, and Spenser: A Savage Place—each continuing Hawk's story in the Spenser universe. Though short-lived on network television, A Man Called Hawk established the character as a fan favorite and demonstrated the enduring appeal of Parker's crime fiction adaptations.
