Standing on Sacred Ground(2014)
Four Films. Eight Cultures. One Fight.
Standing on Sacred Ground is a four-part documentary series that follows Indigenous communities across the US and globally as they resist government mega-projects, resource extraction, and climate change. These native peoples defend their ancestral lands against competing pressures: industrial development, consumer culture, and competing religions. The series explores how Indigenous communities maintain ecological wisdom and spiritual reverence for the land, standing in stark contrast to utilitarian approaches that view nature primarily as a resource to exploit. Through intimate storytelling, Standing on Sacred Ground reveals the ongoing struggle between Indigenous sovereignty and external forces reshaping their territories, while highlighting the knowledge systems these communities have preserved for generations.
