Park Street Under(1979)

Park Street Under is a sitcom set in a fictional bar beneath Boston's Park Street subway station. Produced by local station WCVB-TV starting in 1979, it stands as a rare example of a half-hour sitcom created by a regional broadcaster during the 1970s. The show featured James Spruill in its cast and drew scripts from Jonathan Stathakis and Stu Taylor. Park Street Under proved influential enough to inspire NBC's later hit Cheers, which also centered on a Boston bar. The series takes its name from the actual Red Line platform at Park Street, situated literally beneath the streetcar lines that would become the Green Line.
