Green Mayor(2021)

Green Mayor is a Russian series about environmental activism and grassroots politics. Kirill returns to his provincial hometown after expulsion from university, only to find it ravaged by industrial pollution. A local factory dumps waste into the river, protected forests are being cleared, and landfills sprawl across the city. The aging mayor, controlled by businessman Zuev who owns the factory, plans to step down in favor of Zuev's chosen successor. Determined to save his town from corruption and ecological collapse, Kirill and his childhood friends form a green political movement and run their own mayoral candidate. They face entrenched power, public skepticism, and a ruthless opponent willing to protect his interests. The series explores whether idealistic outsiders can challenge systemic corruption and whether ordinary people can reclaim their community.
