The Pingwings

The Pingwings is a British animated children's series from 1961, comprising 18 ten-minute episodes broadcast on ITV. Created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin of Smallfilms, the show follows a family of penguin-like creatures living behind a barn on Berrydown Farm. Shot in black and white using stop-motion animation, the characters were hand-knitted by Joan Firmin. The series originally aired on Southern Television and became a beloved entry in early British children's programming, showcasing the distinctive craft-based animation style that would define Smallfilms' later work.
