Our Five Daughters
Our Five Daughters(1962)
Our Five Daughters is a daytime soap opera that aired on NBC from January to September 1962. The half-hour drama, written by Leonard Stadd and directed by Paul Lammers, followed Helen Lee, a mother of five daughters navigating family crisis when her husband Jim suffers a devastating accident and becomes an invalid. The upheaval tests the family's resilience as they struggle to adapt to their transformed circumstances. The series starred silent film veteran Esther Ralston, whose career had languished since the arrival of sound cinema; she had lost her savings and worked as a sales clerk before landing acting roles again, including this lead part. Though the show failed to attract a substantial audience and ended after nine months, it launched the career of Jacqueline Courtney, who played daughter Ann Lee and went on to prominent roles in The Edge of Night, Another World, and One Life to Live.
