Noel's Saturday Roadshow(1988)

Noel's Saturday Roadshow is a BBC light entertainment series that aired live on Saturday evenings from September 1988 to December 1990. Hosted by Noel Edmonds, it marked his return to television after a four-year absence following The Late, Late Breakfast Show. Each week the show relocated to a different exotic setting—the North Pole, a space station, Hollywood, Niagara Falls—though these were actually elaborate studio sets. The format combined phone-in quizzes, celebrity interviews and live musical performances, with Edmonds' self-deprecating humour playing up the show's modest production values. Noel's Saturday Roadshow introduced several recurring segments that would later define Noel's House Party: the Gunge Tank, the Gotcha Oscars, Wait 'Till I Get You Home, and Clown Court, where guest actors faced trial for on-set bloopers from their TV shows. The series proved a slow-burning success, ultimately restoring Edmonds' popularity and paving the way for his next major project.
