Crying and Laughing Scholar is a Chinese historical drama following Fang Lin, a Confucian scholar who was falsely accused and betrayed by his rival Wu Song over a woman named Xiao Yue. Years later, having devoted himself to teaching and study to escape his painful past, Fang Lin is drawn back into conflict when four young people seek his help investigating a township trial fraud case.
