One in a Million(1980)

One in a Million is an American sitcom that aired on ABC in 1980, starring comedienne Shirley Hemphill in her first leading role following her success on What's Happening!!. The series follows Shirley Simmons, a sharp-tongued New York taxi driver who unexpectedly inherits a multimillion-dollar conglomerate after one of her regular passengers dies. Now CEO of Grayson Enterprises, Shirley clashes with the company's pompous vice president Roland Cushing while forming an alliance with the founder's secretary, Nancy. The show balances workplace comedy with Shirley's fish-out-of-water struggles against corporate stuffiness. Despite strong supporting performances from character actors Richard Paul and Carl Ballantine, One in a Million failed to find an audience and was cancelled after just 13 episodes.
