Shoestring is a BBC detective drama set in Bristol, starring Trevor Eve as private investigator Eddie Shoestring. By day he solves crimes; by night he hosts his own show on local radio station Radio West, blending detective work with on-air commentary. The series ran for two seasons between 1979 and 1980, comprising 21 hour-long episodes. Eve departed after the show's conclusion to pursue theatre work, leading the production team to relocate the concept to Jersey and reimagine it as Bergerac, another detective series centred on a protagonist rebuilding their life after hardship.
