Free for All(2003)

Free for All is a 2003 animated series that aired on Showtime, following 19-year-old Johnny Jenkins as he navigates life with a dysfunctional family: a bitter, chain-smoking grandmother and a volatile, alcoholic father. His world also includes Paula, the girl next door he's infatuated with, his abusive best friend Clay (who won millions faking a taco restaurant accident), and his innocent friend Omar. Johnny's pet is Angus, a drug-addicted ferret. Created by Brett Merhar and developed for television by Merriwether Williams—head writer of SpongeBob SquarePants seasons 1–4—the series ran for seven episodes throughout summer 2003, ending on a cliffhanger. Despite critical praise, Free for All struggled with low ratings due to minimal promotion and limited source material recognition. Showtime cancelled the show shortly after its finale. The series has largely faded from public memory, though all episodes remain available on iTunes and Amazon.
