P.O.W.(2003)

P.O.W. is a six-episode British drama series that aired on ITV in 2003, starring James D'Arcy and Joe Absolom. Set in a German prison camp in 1940, the series follows Jim Caddon after his plane crashes during a bombing raid over Normandy and he is captured. Based on true stories, P.O.W. shifts focus from the officer-led escapes of earlier World War Two dramas like The Colditz Story to centre the experiences and escape attempts of enlisted men and other ranks. The gritty wartime narrative explores survival and resistance in captivity. Filmed in Lithuania, the series premiered on 10 October 2003 but was not renewed for a second season. ITV subsequently commissioned other World War Two dramas including Colditz and Island at War.
