Open All Hours(1976)

Open All Hours is a British sitcom that follows Albert Arkwright, a miserly corner-shop owner, and his nephew Granville, who works as his reluctant assistant. Created by Roy Clarke and starring Ronnie Barker as the stammering, scheming Arkwright, the show mines comedy from the tension between the tight-fisted shopkeeper and his exasperated younger relative. Originally conceived as a 1973 episode of Barker's sketch series Seven of One, Open All Hours expanded into a full sitcom that ran for 26 episodes across four series. The first season aired on BBC2, with subsequent seasons moving to BBC1, where the show became a fixture of British television comedy throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s.
