Porobdžije is a historical drama set in 1893 Mostar, Herzegovina, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Stojan, a poor peasant boy, arrives in the city seeking work and finds employment at a prosperous but corrupt store. When the owner dies, Stojan marries his widow and inherits the business—along with all the moral compromises that come with it. The series follows Stojan's transformation as he navigates the complexities of wealth, power, and ambition in a rapidly changing empire. Caught between his humble origins and newfound status, he must contend with the corrupting influence of his position and the expectations of those around him. Porobdžije explores themes of social mobility, greed, and the price of success in a richly detailed period setting.
