The Moon and the World(2024)

The Moon and the World is a Russian comedy series set in 2040 at Sunset-1, a lunar station ostensibly built to protect Earth from an asteroid threat. Station commander Irina Tsvetkova presides over a motley crew of misfits: the bumbling Major Slava, brash pilot Sofia, and incompetent engineers Yurich and Roma. When astrophysicist Venera Myshkina arrives, she uncovers the truth—the team isn't saving humanity at all. They're running an illegal helium-3 mining operation. As Venera's discovery threatens to upend their scheme, tensions mount between keeping the secret and facing the consequences of exposure. The series balances absurdist humor with the isolation and moral ambiguity of life on the moon, where Earth's rules feel very far away.
