Call Me Levi(2025)

Call Me Levi is a historical drama series that traces the origins of blue jeans through the life of Levi Strauss. In the 1850s, the German-Jewish peddler's son emigrates to America, escaping anti-Semitism and limited prospects in Franconia. He joins his brothers' dry goods business, then heads to San Francisco during the gold rush. Recognizing the miners' desperate need for durable work pants, Levi partners with Jacob Davis, a Latvian tailor who invents reinforced seams using metal rivets. Together they build a textile empire, but face mounting obstacles: a ruthless port authority demanding protection money and fierce competition over patent rights. The series captures Strauss's entrepreneurial ambition and ingenuity as he transforms a simple work garment into an enduring symbol of American identity.
