How Sweden was Built is a documentary series exploring the evolution of Swedish architecture, housing, and urban design across two centuries. Hosted by Petra Mede alongside architects Gert Wingårdh and Mark Isitt, the show traces housing development from a hundred years in the past to a hundred years into the future. The series visits diverse Swedish landscapes and communities—from village streets and countryside cottages to industrial towns, sprawling suburbs, and vibrant city centers—examining how each environment shaped Swedish life and culture. Through these locations, How Sweden was Built reveals the forces behind residential design choices and speculates on what future Swedish homes and cities might become.
