Familie Rechlin(1982)

Familie Rechlin is a German drama set in 1960s Berlin, following a family torn apart by the construction of the Wall. Mother Ingelore lives in East Berlin with her husband Hannes and youngest son, while her daughter Beate has settled in the West with her new family. When Beate gives birth to the first grandchild, Ingelore cannot cross the border to meet her grandson. A year passes before travel permits arrive, but the separation has fractured the family's once-close bonds. Complications deepen when son Bernd's new girlfriend—recently released from prison for attempting to flee East Germany—creates further tension. As old wounds resurface and loyalties are tested, Ingelore watches helplessly as her family drifts further apart, caught between two worlds divided by concrete and ideology.
