Crimen

Das Kriminalmuseum is a German television series that aired on ZDF from 1963 to 1970, marking one of the network's earliest programs. Each episode opens with a tracking shot through a crime museum, where the camera settles on a display case whose real-life criminal story unfolds in gripping detail. Running 60 to 75 minutes per episode, the series rotated through different actors playing criminal commissioners, with Erik Ode becoming the most recognizable face before moving to Der Kommissar in 1969, where he appeared in 97 episodes. Composer Martin Böttcher created the series' distinctive theme music and scored five complete episodes, anchoring the show's atmospheric tone. Das Kriminalmuseum blended documentary-style crime narratives with dramatic storytelling, establishing a template for German television crime programming that would influence the medium for decades.
