For Whom the Bell Tolls(1965)

For Whom the Bell Tolls is a 1965 British television series adapted from Ernest Hemingway's novel. Directed by Rex Tucker and written for television by Giles Cooper, the four-part drama starred John Ronane, Ann Bell, Julian Curry, Glynn Edwards and Joan Miller. Each episode ran 45 minutes, with the first broadcast on BBC on 2 October 1965. The series explored Hemingway's themes of love and conflict against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. Unfortunately, no episodes survive in the BBC archives, making this adaptation a lost piece of British television history.
