Painter of the Wind(2008)

Painter of the Wind is a 2008 South Korean historical drama that reimagines the life of Joseon painter Shin Yun-bok as a woman. Yun-bok disguises herself as a boy to hunt down her father's killer while pursuing her passion for art. She becomes the apprentice of master painter Kim Hong-do, and their relationship deepens from mentorship into profound friendship as she develops into a gifted artist in her own right. The series blends historical fiction with intimate character study, exploring themes of identity, revenge, and artistic growth against the backdrop of eighteenth-century Korea. Moon Geun-young's nuanced performance earned widespread acclaim, including the grand prize at the 2008 SBS Drama Awards and Best TV Actress honours at the 2009 Baeksang Arts Awards. The drama itself won the Asian TV Series Special Award at the 2010 Shanghai Television Festival.
