Radetzky March(1995)

Radetzky March is a historical drama series set during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. At the Battle of Solferino, Lieutenant Joseph von Trotta saves the life of young Emperor Franz-Joseph I and is rewarded with a promotion to captain and a title of nobility—a dramatic rise that severs him from his farming roots. Years later, von Trotta discovers his son's schoolbook contains a romanticized, propagandistic account of the battle that made him famous. Outraged by the emotional distortion of events and the way he's been mythologized as "the Hero of Solferino," von Trotta lodges a formal complaint with the Imperial Court. The series explores the tension between personal truth and state mythology, following how this act of defiance reverberates through generations of the von Trotta family against the backdrop of a crumbling empire.
