South of Sunset(1993)

South of Sunset is an American detective comedy series that premiered on CBS in October 1993, starring musician Glenn Frey as Cody McMahon, a private investigator running a low-end agency just south of Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Aries Spears and Maria Pitillo round out the cast as his assistant and secretary. The show blended comedy with suspense in the vein of Moonlighting, following McMahon's cases in the seedier side of Los Angeles. Created by John Byrum, South of Sunset was heavily promoted during the 1993 World Series, but its run was short-lived. The pilot aired on October 27, 1993, though wildfire coverage preempted it on many West Coast stations. CBS cancelled the series after disappointing ratings, despite six episodes being produced. Four additional episodes later aired on VH1 as part of their Eagles Family Tree Week programming.
