In the Red(1998)

In the Red is a three-part BBC Two black comedy crime miniseries starring Warren Clarke as BBC reporter George Cragge and Alun Armstrong as Police Superintendent Frank Jefferson. The pair investigate a series of murders targeting London bank managers while a small political party contests a by-election and a shadowy plot unfolds to overthrow the BBC's Director-General. Adapted by Malcolm Bradbury from Mark Tavener's novel, the serial draws on Tavener's own experiences working for the BBC and the Liberal Party, blending dark humour with intrigue as the investigation spirals into institutional chaos and political conspiracy.
