Life and Fate(2012)

Life and Fate is a historical drama set during the 1942–1943 defense of Stalingrad. Viktor Strum, a brilliant Jewish nuclear physicist, works at a Soviet institute developing an atomic bomb while his relatives perish in Nazi concentration camps and NKVD prisons. As persecution closes in on him, Strum discovers that only his scientific work—now of direct interest to Stalin—can save his life. Caught between loyalty to his research and the moral cost of serving a totalitarian regime, Strum faces an impossible choice: continue his work for the Soviet state or abandon science and face destruction. The series explores how ambition, survival, and ideology collide during one of history's darkest periods.
