The Eight Fairies(1985)

The Eight Fairies is a Chinese fantasy series following eight ordinary people chosen by the immortal Taishang Laojun to become celestial beings. Li Xuan, Han Zhongli, Zhang Guolao, Lü Dongbin, He Xiangu, Lan Caihe, Han Xiangzi, and Cao Guojun each come from different walks of life—a soldier, a fruit seller, a flower girl, a musician, a flute player, and others. Under Lao Jun's guidance, they undergo spiritual cultivation and embark on a mission to help others and accumulate virtue through good deeds. Their journey grows perilous as they repeatedly encounter dangerous adversaries, including the Dragon Prince and heavenly forces determined to stop them. The series explores whether these unlikely candidates can overcome mounting obstacles and ultimately achieve immortality and enlightenment.
