Jossy's Giants(1986)

Jossy's Giants is a children's football comedy-drama that aired on BBC1 from 1986 to 1987. The series follows the Glipton Giants, a boys' football team managed by the enthusiastic Geordie Joswell 'Jossy' Blair. Written by darts commentator Sid Waddell, a Newcastle native himself, the show captures the spirit of grassroots youth football with warmth and humour. Only ten episodes were produced during its run. The series was shot across multiple locations, with football scenes filmed at an Oldham Town FC ground in Chadderton, exterior sequences in and around Stalybridge, and studio material at BBC Oxford Road. Mike Amatt composed the show's distinctive theme music. Though short-lived, Jossy's Giants became a fondly remembered fixture of 1980s children's television.
