Diamonds(1987)

Diamonds is a Canadian television series that aired from 1987 to 1989, starring Nicholas Campbell and Peggy Smithhart as Mike Devitt and Christina Towne, a divorced couple working together as private investigators. The pair had originally met as actors playing married detectives on a fictional TV show called Two of Diamonds. With its focus on witty banter between estranged partners solving crimes, Diamonds drew frequent comparisons to the American hit Moonlighting—a parallel the show acknowledged directly in one episode featuring a case of mistaken identity with Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd. The ensemble cast included Roland Magdane, Geraint Wyn Davies, and Tony Rosato, with Campbell also contributing as a writer. The series aired on Global in Canada and in late-night slots on CBS and USA Network in the United States, becoming part of a wave of Canadian crime dramas that included Adderly, Night Heat, and Hot Shots.
