Comedy Playhouse(1961)

Comedy Playhouse is a British anthology series that ran for 120 episodes between 1961 and 1975, each episode featuring a standalone sitcom. The show served as a testing ground for new comedy concepts, with several pilots becoming hugely successful series in their own right. Steptoe and Son, Till Death Us Do Part, All Gas and Gaiters, The Liver Birds, and Are You Being Served? all emerged from the programme. Most notably, Last of the Summer Wine debuted on Comedy Playhouse before becoming the world's longest-running sitcom, airing from 1973 to 2010. The series remains a landmark in British television history, showcasing the variety and inventiveness of 1960s and 1970s comedy writing.
