Turnabout is a 1979 NBC sitcom based on Thorne Smith's 1931 novel, following a married couple who mysteriously swap bodies and must navigate life from each other's perspective. The premise echoes Freaky Friday's body-swap comedy, mining humor from the chaos of a husband and wife experiencing each other's daily lives. Despite its clever concept, Turnabout struggled against stiff competition—it aired after the poorly rated Hello, Larry and faced off against CBS's juggernaut Dallas. The show lasted just seven episodes before cancellation, unable to find an audience in a crowded primetime landscape.
