Terra baixa(2011)

Terra Baixa is a drama that explores the moral divide between a corrupt lowland society and an untouched mountain community. Manelic, a simple shepherd from the highlands, falls in love with Marta, a woman from the lowlands who has been sexually exploited by her master, Sebastian. When Manelic seeks to marry her and rescue her from her circumstances, he becomes entangled in the dark power dynamics of the lowland world. The film examines themes of innocence versus corruption, class struggle, and the clash between two worlds as Manelic's primitive virtue confronts the brutal realities of the plains below. Tension mounts as he fights to free Marta from Sebastian's control and build a life together, only to discover that escaping the lowlands' corruption may be far more difficult than he imagined.
