Marriage with Limited Liability is a German comedy adapted from the stage play Causa Kaiser. Composer Georg Kaiser cannot divorce his wife, so he lives with his singer-sweetheart Causa instead. When Causa's wealthy uncle dies and leaves her millions on the condition she's married to Georg Kaiser, the composer hatches a scheme: he finds another man with the same name and arranges for him to marry Causa so she can claim her inheritance. The second Georg Kaiser, a naive middle-aged man, grows confused when his new bride remains distant. Once he discovers the deception, he seeks companionship with a woman closer to his own age—a twist that somehow resolves everyone's romantic entanglements.
