Alpha(2008)

Alpha is a science fiction film set in a future where artificial beings are engineered to perform complex tasks. Before delivery to customers, these androids undergo a final quality control phase in a house that mimics their owner's home, where a technician refines their skills and language abilities. Alpha and Beta, a pair of artificial beings designed as a couple, are weeks away from shipment to their owners in Japan when their controlled existence begins to unravel. The film explores what happens when these manufactured beings start to develop beyond their programming, questioning the nature of consciousness and what it means to be human. Tension builds as Alpha and Beta's relationship deepens in ways their creators never anticipated, forcing a confrontation with the ethics of creating sentient life.
