Comrade(2006)

Comrade is a coming-of-age film that follows 14-year-old Ilan after he discovers his father has hidden the truth about his estranged sister and mother. Running away from home, Ilan seeks refuge with his sister Dalia, a cruise ship worker entangled in an affair with a married man. While Dalia works, Ilan ventures into her struggling neighborhood and meets Avram, an aging Communist idealist living in an abandoned building. Avram maintains a weapons cache and marijuana operation while waiting for his prophesied revolution against capitalism. As the unlikely pair form an unexpected bond, the film explores themes of displacement, disillusionment, and the collision between youthful idealism and hardened conviction. Set against a gritty urban backdrop, Comrade balances dark humor with genuine emotion as it examines what happens when a lost teenager finds kinship with a man clinging to a fading dream.
