Conceiving Ada(1999)

Conceiving Ada is a science fiction film that imagines Emmy Coer, a computer genius, discovering a way to communicate across time by tapping into information waves. She makes contact with Ada Lovelace, the nineteenth-century mathematician whose visionary ideas about computing were constrained by the limitations placed on women of her era. Emmy devises an audacious plan to use her own DNA as a bridge to bring Ada into the present day, hoping to fulfill the legacy of the woman who first conceived of computer language. The film explores the consequences of rewriting history and the collision between past and present when Emmy's experiment succeeds.
