Ghar Jamai(1997)

Ghar Jamai is a comedy series built on the clash between a Punjabi father-in-law and his Malayali son-in-law. Mr Mehra, played by Satish Shah, constantly schemes to outwit his live-in son-in-law Subbu, portrayed by R Madhavan. But Subbu's quick wit always turns the tables, leaving Mehra frustrated. Their relentless bickering and one-upmanship form the heart of the show—a Tom and Jerry dynamic that drives every episode. Caught between them is Chandni, played by Mandira Bedi, who finds herself collateral damage in their endless war. The chemistry between the two leads became the show's greatest strength, their love-hate relationship fuelling both comedy and tension. The series ended when Madhavan departed to star in the Tamil film Alaipayuthey, which launched his successful career in South Indian cinema.
