Free Country(1978)

Free Country is a 1978 sitcom that aired briefly on ABC during the summer months. Rob Reiner stars as Joseph Bresner, the elderly patriarch of a Lithuanian family who immigrated to New York City in the early 1900s. The show's format alternates between the present day, where the 89-year-old Bresner reflects on his past, and flashback sequences that dramatize those early immigrant experiences. Each episode explores a different memory from his life in the new country. Despite its premise, the series found little audience traction and was cancelled after just five episodes.
