A Year Without a Job(2022)

A Year Without a Job is a Chinese series about two women navigating unemployment and self-discovery. Da Yu, a 30-year-old, meets Xiao Yu, a 1995-born woman who quit her job on impulse—and they happen to share the same name. When they become unexpected roommates, their year without work becomes a journey of mutual influence. Da Yu learns to embrace spontaneity and try new things, while Xiao Yu develops discipline and planning skills. As they return to the job market, Da Yu confronts the harsh realities of corporate expectations and must chart a different path forward. Xiao Yu, meanwhile, discovers the value of persistence and earns respect from her colleagues. Through their contrasting approaches to life and work, both women uncover what truly matters to them.
