Alexei Sayle's Merry-Go-Round(1998)
Alexei Sayle's Merry-Go-Round is a comedy sketch series that aired on BBC2 in 1998, running for six episodes. Sayle's final sketch show featured a rotating cast of performers including Noel Fielding, Lee Hurst, Reece Shearsmith, David Walliams, and Peter Serafinowicz. The format mirrored his previous All New Alexei Sayle Show but with a fresh writing team and notably without a studio audience. The series followed the continuing misadventures of Bobby Chariot, freed from his warm-up duties but trapped under the management of the abrasive Denise Coffey. One standout episode saw Chariot perform for an ironic student audience who embraced his catchphrase "How ya diddling?" with genuine enthusiasm. Sayle himself appeared as a resident of a Teletubbies-inspired burrow in North London's affluent neighbourhoods, anchoring the show's absurdist sensibility throughout.
