Treasure Island(1977)

Treasure Island is a 1977 television adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic 1883 novel. Young Jim Hawkins discovers a treasure map and sets out to claim it, but the scheming pirate Long John Silver and his crew have mutiny in mind. This four-episode series, adapted by John Lucarotti, stays faithful to the source material while expanding the story of Jim's ailing father Daniel and the naiveté of Squire Trelawney. The narrative opens with Billy Bones luring Jim's father into a doomed treasure voyage, corrupt agent Ezra Blandly tipping off Silver, and the pirate captain extracting secrets through brutal interrogation. Lucarotti's additions deepen the backstory without straying from the period's authentic pirate vernacular, creating a swashbuckling adventure that honours Stevenson's original while adding new dramatic layers to the tale.
