Magic Grandad
Magic Grandad(1993)
Magic Grandad is an educational series that originally aired on BBC Two in 1993 as Switch On, Switch Off. The show follows a character known as Magic Grandad as he takes his young grandchildren on journeys through time, comparing life in the past with the present day and uncovering how historical evidence survives in the modern world. Designed for children aged 5–7, the series was created to support the History National Curriculum at Key Stage 1, making history engaging and accessible for early learners. New seasons have been produced periodically to cover different topics within the infant curriculum, including seaside holidays and toys. Early episodes came with accompanying teacher's notes, episode descriptions, follow-up activity suggestions, and photocopiable worksheets to support classroom learning.
