Armchair is a Russian comedy series about Misha, a man whose life has fallen apart after losing his girlfriend, job, and sense of direction. When he buys a secondhand armchair, he discovers a folder containing documents and a large sum of money belonging to the city governor's right-hand man. Rather than report the find, Misha uses the windfall to repair neglected communal spaces in his apartment building, earning the gratitude and respect of his neighbors. His newfound popularity leads to a nomination as a people's deputy, but his fortune shifts when the governor realizes the documents are missing. With municipal elections looming and the governor searching for his lost property, Misha must navigate between his growing political support and the dangerous secret he's keeping. The series explores whether grassroots goodwill and a mysterious folder can propel an ordinary man into power.
