Separation(2012)

Separation is a Soviet drama set in post-war 1947 Moscow. Alexey Mitrokhin returns to the city to reunite with his wartime friend Argunov, a former battalion commander who once saved his life. He discovers Argunov has been sentenced to 25 years in a maximum security camp. Faced with this devastating news, Mitrokhin resolves to attempt a dangerous rescue, willing to risk everything for the bond forged between them during the war. The film explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the human cost of Stalin-era repression, capturing the moral dilemmas faced by ordinary people in a brutal political system.
