The Red Chapel(1972)

The Red Chapel is a historical drama following Leopold Trepper, a Red Army colonel who infiltrates Belgium on the eve of World War II under an assumed identity. Tasked with building a Soviet spy network, Trepper recruits operatives Viktor Sukulow-Gurewitsch, Johann Wenzel, Hillel Katz, and Michail Makarow to establish intelligence cells across Belgium and France. Using cover businesses—a raincoat shop chain and the import-export firm Simexco—the ring gathers crucial military intelligence on Wehrmacht operations, Atlantic Wall fortifications, and rail infrastructure, relaying findings to Moscow. As German occupation tightens, the agents depend on local resistance fighters and patriots determined to liberate their nations. The series chronicles the dangerous cat-and-mouse game between Trepper's clandestine operation and Nazi security forces hunting them.
