Mayberry R.F.D.(1968)

Mayberry R.F.D. is an American sitcom that spun off from The Andy Griffith Show when Andy Griffith departed the original series. The show shifts focus to widower farmer Sam Jones and his young son Mike, who were introduced in the final season of Andy Griffith. Sheriff Andy Taylor steps back into a supporting role, making occasional guest appearances alongside his new wife Helen before relocating in late 1969. The series ran for three seasons on CBS from 1968 to 1971, drawing strong ratings throughout its run. Its premiere episode, "Andy and Helen's Wedding," holds the record for the highest-rated episode in television history. Despite its popularity, Mayberry R.F.D. fell victim to CBS's 1971 "rural purge," a network decision to cancel rural-themed programming. The title references "Rural Free Delivery," reflecting the show's small-town setting and the everyday lives of Mayberry's farming community.
