Five Days Inside(2018)

Five Days Inside is a Dutch documentary series that grants rare access to institutions normally closed to the public. Presenter Beau van Erven Dorens spends five days embedded in each location—a hospice, a preventive custody facility, a burn center—living and working alongside residents and staff. He experiences their daily routines firsthand, shares meals, and often sleeps on-site, sometimes locked in rooms for safety. The series reveals the human stories within these spaces: the struggles of the dying, the challenges of detention, the resilience of burn survivors. By immersing himself completely, van Erven Dorens uncovers what it truly means to work and live in these extraordinary environments, breaking down the barriers between observer and participant.
