George(1974)

George is a Swiss-Canadian television series that aired on CTV in 1972–73. Based on the 1971 film George!, the show follows a St. Bernard dog and his owner navigating life in Switzerland. Marshall Thompson, who starred in the original film, reprised his role for the half-hour series, which debuted on Thursday evenings in September 1972. Despite critical dismissal—The Globe and Mail called it "abysmal"—George found an afterlife in reruns on CTV affiliates, particularly filling Saturday morning slots for years. The series lasted just one season before cancellation, yet its modest charm proved durable enough to sustain repeat broadcasts across Canadian television.
