Devoted Cookbook(2014)

Devoted Cookbook is a period film set in spring 1814, following the celebrated chef Mio and the restaurant Tsuru-ka after her victory in a prestigious cooking competition. When the restaurant's owner Taneichi hires young orphan Fuki as a shoe attendant, Mio recognizes a kindred spirit in the resilient girl. Their quiet bond deepens as the famous novelist Seiemon becomes a regular patron, drawn despite his daily criticism of Mio's dishes. The film explores themes of ambition, belonging, and culinary passion against the backdrop of Edo-period Japan, weaving together the lives of three outsiders who find unexpected connection within the restaurant's walls.
